Slate: How the Slate Dictionary Changed the Way I Think
Slate is a social media platform with a history of controversial statements and questionable decisions.
Now, in a new book titled Slate: The Slate Dictionary Has Changed the World, Slate CEO David Marcus has written that the new dictionary will be more than just a book.
“Slate will be the new Google,” Marcus said in an interview with Business Insider.
Marcus is also the co-founder of the popular podcast Slate.tv, where he speaks on a variety of topics and has previously written for the site.
He said that the idea behind Slate came about when he started working on his new book, but he wasn’t quite sure how he wanted to share his thoughts on the new language.
“I was working on a project about the future of the Internet and I had a couple ideas on how to incorporate new technologies into that,” Marcus told Business Insider, adding that he had been thinking about what could be added to the dictionary, especially in light of the rise of new social media platforms.
“It was really a natural fit to use a dictionary.
I thought about what the most important thing was to the world and that was the dictionary.”
The Slate dictionary is already in use by a variety the Internet companies, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, and Snapchat.
The book, which is expected to go on sale in March, will be available for purchase online and in stores this summer.
Slate is already a force in online publishing, with more than 10 million followers on Facebook and more than two million subscribers to the podcast, Slate.com.
Marcus said that he plans to use the new dictionaries “to bring the internet back to life.”
For the time being, Marcus said, he has not put much thought into the book’s structure.
“We have a very ambitious goal,” he said.
“The dictionary will become the dictionary for the 21st century.
We have a great vision for it and we have an awesome team of writers and editors that are going to do a great job.
I think the book is really ambitious.
We are going in a direction where we want to change the world.”
Slate has already published a slew of books, including one by the late tech titan Marc Andreessen, a biography of the late entrepreneur Jeff Bezos, and a history that traces the rise and fall of the web company.
The company’s latest venture, called Slate for the Smartest, is aimed at a much younger audience, and Marcus said he thinks the book will be a big success.
“There’s going to be a lot of people who are going for the new edition,” Marcus explained.
“They’re going to want to hear the best of the best and they’re going not only to love the book, they’re also going to get a sense of how this language is really used and how it’s evolving.”
